“Resistance = right and obligation” [July 16, 2006] by Itamar Marcus and Barbara Crook- Aug. 10, 2006 As Israel counts more than 100 dead in its war against the Hezbollah terror organization, numerous Israeli Arabs, including Arab Knesset members, have come out in support of the enemy. A number of demonstrations and marches in support of Hezbollah have likewise been held by Israel's Arabs. One Member of the Knesset, Azmi Bishara, even refers to the members of Hezbollah as “heroes.” He calls for Hezbollah to fight Israeli soldiers, saying, “One must settle accounts with their murderers and resist [fight] its aggression.” The following are 15 statements by Israeli Arab leaders and victims of Hezbollah terror in support of Hezbollah, all said during the war: Ra’oda Att’allah, Director of the Arab Culture Society in Haifa:
"The popularity of Hezbollah has grown substantially among the Arabs in Israel… the first time there is a feeling of returning the honor, and that the people are feeling for the first time that there is a group which resists [fights-ed.] and stands firm against the Israeli army."[Al-Ayyam, August 8, 2006] Ali Mana, relative of 2 Israeli Arabs killed by Hezbollah missile:

PA celebrates Hezbollah attacks By Itamar Marcus and Barbara Crook Palestinian Authority TV this week started to openly celebrate Israeli civilian casualties, and broadcast a video clip entitled, "Where will you run?” The clip shows Hezbollah terrorists launching rockets towards Israeli cities, followed by images of the Israeli civilian and military destruction and casualties.
This celebrating of attacks on Israeli civilians by the PA corresponds to a poll released yesterday, which found that "97% of Palestinians support Hezbollah's position towards Israel." [Near East Consulting, Ramallah]

This figure of 97% support for Hezbollah attacks is even higher than the approximately 70% of Palestinians who consistently supported suicide terror against Israeli civilians during the four-year terror war. (This year, Palestinian support for suicide terror has stood around 55%.) 
The higher support for Hezbollah attacks on civilians than for PA suicide terror may seem surprising, but there is a simple explanation. Those Palestinians who opposed suicide terror argued that it was "damaging to the Palestinians,” not that it was wrong. Even such so-called moderates as Mahmoud Abbas, Hanan Ashrawi and Sari Nusseibah called for a halt in PA suicide terror because of the damage to the Palestinian people, not because it was morally wrong.
This professed opposition to terror for tactical reasons meant that the actual proportion of Palestinians who considered Israeli civilians legitimate targets was always higher than the 70% mark. In this case, since Hezbollah attacks are not damaging the "Palestinian people," 97% of Palestinians support these attacks.

civilians' casualties Hitting Israeli cities "restores honor" By Itamar Marcus and Barbara Crook- Aug. 2, 2006 While the world debates about responsibility for Lebanese civilian casualties, Hezbollah takes unequivocal pride in its responsibility for causing Israeli civilians casualties. Indeed, Hezbollah celebrates its attacks on civilians as restoring "honor". Hezbollah TV, Al Manar, continues to broadcast video clips glorifying Hezbollah attacks on Israeli cities. Scenes showing Israeli civilians being rushed to the Hospitals are accompanied by the words:
"Resist! Explode! Shake! Destroy! Your weapon restores my country's honor."

"Americans are talented at igniting crisis... They are like mosquitoes that need a swamp to fly above." By Itamar Marcus and Barbara Crook Above and beyond the steady anti-American hatred promoted by the Palestinian Authority (PA) leaders for years, they seem to have a special penchant for hating Condoleezza Rice. Some of the attacks have included expressions of racial hatred, as in an article this week referring to Rice as a "raven" and a previous article that referred to her as "the colored... the dark skinned... the black lady." [see PMW Bulletin] In another racist article attacking Condolezza Rice, the PA daily referred to her as the ”black woman” [three times], the “black spinster” and continues that he even considered the term “black widow” but rejected it. Her father is called the "black clergyman” [who filled her head with Bible stories] and Colin Powell is the “black man”, the “black gentleman” and even the “brave and moderate black.” All appeared in the official PA daily, then controlled by Arafat, today under Mahmoud Abbas. This week a cartoon mocked her hope for the birth of a new Middle East by drawing Rice pregnant with a monkey. 
[Text: "Rice speaks about birth of a new Middle East" Al-Quds, July 24, 2006] In addition, PA society is orchestrating demonstrations, children's activities, and hateful displays all personally attacking Rice. The PA daily published pictures of demonstrators with posters of Rice drinking blood dripping from the picture of dead babies and saying, "I need more blood." 
Another showed an anti Rice protest of the PA Children's Parliament, which displayed an American flag with the words in English and Arabic "Murderer- Rice [Ryse-lit] go to Hell". Condoleezza Rice's picture appears on the flag adjacent to a picture of a dead child while children lay on the ground simulating dead children.
This appeared prominently on the back page in the official PA daily Al Hayat Al Jadida controlled by Mahmoud Abbas' office. [[Al-Hayat Al-Jadida July 26, 2006] 
Also this week was an article in the same official daily entitled Condoleezza-Stan written by the paper's editor in chief attacking Rice for American policy, which the PA charges, is intentionally designed to promote war and US involvement, and not peace. The newspaper gave prominent coverage to an anti Rice demonstration where the demonstrators demand she "get out" and "return to where she came from." The following are the latest personal attacks in articles and graphics directed at Condoleezza Rice: "The masses and the activists in Ramallah… received the visit (of Condoleezza Rice) with denunciation and condemnation.A general strike brought life to a halt, at a time when anger is exploding in marches and demonstrations... Signs and slogans in Arabic and English called Rice a terrorist and a child murderer... and they told her to get out... The street which is mobilized against American policy, did not wait for Rice's words to the president (Machmud Abbas), for the protestors demand she go back to where she came from, after describing her as a "raven" who brings only destruction."

Murder, martyrdom and blood libels are themes of Al Manar TV station
attacked by Israel By Itamar Marcus and Barbara Crook The International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) on Thursday condemned Israel for bombing the Hizbullah TV station Al-Manar, saying, "The bombing of Al-Manar is a clear demonstration that Israel has a policy of using violence to silence media it does not agree with." [IFJ General Secretary Aidan White, July 14, 2006, IFJ Web site] To clarify to PMW subscribers, Al Manar television broadcasts not only material that Israel "does not agree with," but some of the most loathsome hate broadcasting in the world, which we are surprised the IFJ would condone. This has included using cartoons to encourage children to seek death as Martyrs, presenting Jews using Christian children's blood for Matzah as factual, and presenting the killing of Israel's Jews as God's will.
